Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has opened the new Magic Garden play area at Hampton Court Palace.
Landscape architect Robert Myers took Kate for a guided tour of the garden before she met the design team, including Associate Partner Clementine Fletcher-Smith.

The lighting scheme for after dark is both playful and dramatic, capturing the magic of the garden: the centrepiece of the garden, a 25 ft dragon, comes alive with glimmering eyes and colourful steam trails issuing from his nostrils. Pathways lead through a wild wood full of mysterious ‘fire flies’; spot-lit mythical creatures flank a pergola that plays with perspective and the internal light of the tiltyard towers lead to a glowing aerial walkway.
