LEDforum Brazil 2011
August 19 2011 — by Iain Ruxton
I delivered the closing paper for the LEDforum 2011 event in São Paulo, Brazil at the beginning of August.
Interesting event, some very good speakers. Great turnout of over 300 people for the two-day conference. Talking with people there, I gathered that the Brazilian market is a little behind Europe in adopting LED, but is learning fast and professional practitioners are very keen to get it right!
I gave a personal journey in LED - S+M's experience of adopting LEDs in lighting, from 1996 until the present, related to technical innovation and mapped onto the Gartner Hype Cycle.
(a note regarding the photograph - the organisers were kind enough to put each speaker's national flag on the lectern as they spoke. I felt the need to convert the British Union Flag into a Scottish Saltire...)
