The conference aims to bring together social science and humanities scholars with lighting designers in order for both sides to gain a better and more holistic understanding of lighting and to aid collaboration.

Mark's talk, "Light is for people: An approach to urban lighting in the 21st Century", briefly introduced the historical development of artificial lighting in our cities and towns, examined current issues around the developing field of urban lighting and touched on future trends.

The conference was held in cooperation with Copenhagen Light Festival which takes place during February.
