Speirs + Major to design lighting for 100 Bishopsgate

Speirs + Major is delighted to be involved with the design of 100 Bishopsgate, a tower building in the heart of the City of London. We will be working closely with the client and contractor, Brookfield Europe, and architects AMWB, a collaboration between Allies and Morrison and Woods Bagot, as we design a dynamic lighting scheme for this newest of towers shaping the centre of London.

100 Bishopsgate represents a new generation of tower buildings which have sprung up in the City, with neighbours including previous and current S+M projects 30 St. Mary’s Axe and The Pinnacle. Given the high visibility of these buildings, it is critical to light them in context to their surrounds – not just at the top, but also in and around the public realm area at the base of the tower – as they will highly influence the appearance of the development. The aim is to let the dark spaces accentuate and emphasise the elements of the tower that are lit after dark, as opposed to all areas of the tower being brightly lit. This technique will also facilitate a move towards lowering environmental pollution and our collective carbon footprint.
