Speirs + Major to design two new Maggie’s Centres

Speirs + Major has been appointed to design the interior and exterior lighting for two new Maggie’s Centres, at Newcastle and Lanarkshire. This follows on from our award winning work on Maggie’s Centre, London, which was designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners. We will be working closely with Edward Cullinan Architects and Reiach and Hall Architects respectively.

Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, run on a charitable basis, offer information, counselling and support for cancer sufferers and their families. The lighting will be designed to create a relaxed and welcoming environment which encourages informal use of the building and contrasts with lighting commonly associated with hospitals and clinics. The lighting, architecture and landscape design aim to create a sanctuary for people learning to live with cancer.
