Speirs + Major to illuminate Fehmarn Bridge linking Germany and Denmark

March 01 2010 — by Jesse Lilley
Speirs + Major are part of a competition-winning team, including COWI and architects Dissing + Weitling, tasked with designing a proposed 20km bridge that would link Denmark to Northern Germany.
The double-deck bridge would cross over the Fehmarn Belt in the Baltic Sea, joining the two countries by both rail and motorway, and is expected to be completed in 2018.

Speirs + Major have worked on several bridges recently, winning an FX design award for the lighting of the Infinity Bridge, while working on the Inderhavn Bridge in Copenhagen and the Coronado San Diego Bridge in California.
