The Macallan

We are delighted to announce our involvement as lighting designers for The Macallan new distillery and visitor centre, designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSHP), and the visitor experience by Atelier Bruckner, scheduled to open to the public in summer 2018.

The distillery and visitor centre embodies the care, passion and superior craftsmanship that goes into every bottle of The Macallan. It is set into the naturally sloping contours in the landscape of the estate that has been responsible for creating the single malt whisky since 1824. It is designed to reveal the whisky production processes and to welcome visitors, while remaining sympathetic to the natural scenery that inspired it.

The roof is a magnificent feat of engineering and architecture and a significant feature which forms the shape of the building and the configuration of the experience within. The lighting design draws inspiration from the context and the whisky making process, enhancing an atmospheric journey that tells the story of The Macallan.
