Satu Streatfield gives public lecture at National Sculpture Factory

Satu Streatfield has been invited by the National Sculpture Factory to give a public talk on the interface between light and art. The lecture will take place Thursday 25 November in Cork, Ireland.

Several Speirs + Major projects have involved lighting artworks and sculptures, from the colossal 4 logo of Channel 4 to Sam Holland's quiet memorial for the RNLI.

Keith goes inside out in Istanbul

Keith appeared at the ALD Conference on architectural lighting in Instanbul recently, and delivered a lecture on the ‘inside-out’ nature of lighting design.

With buildings becoming more transparent and exterior schemes influenced by energy constraints, light from inside a building now has to be considered as a part of the main exterior composition. In his talk, Keith describes how light can be designed to serve both the interior and exterior of a building.

Mark and Jonathan to speak at Light Middle East

Jonathan Speirs and Mark Major will be keynote speakers at this year’s Light Middle East conference on October 31 2010.

Mark will present a paper – Light Master Planning in the post-Kyoto Age – with recent insights in the design of sustainable urban lighting.

Jonathan's paper will reveal the approach behind two of the region's landmark projects – the Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi and the celebratory lighting of the world’s tallest tower Burj Khalifa.
