11/10/2023 - We are celebrating the illumination of the lobby of 22 Bishopsgate, London which was completed in 2023.

Our role in the project was to create the external identity of the building at street level, using light to guide both those that work in the massive tower above, and their visitors, into the impressive treble height entrance space.

Externally, the concept was extremely simple with the architectural lighting limited to soft, indirect illumination of the large cornice feature that subdivides the podium from the 62 storey tower above. The curved GRC panels were simply uplit with warm white light from LED spotlights carefully integrated onto the main structural columns. The overall effect is to frame the lobby when seen from a distance and close to helping to create a more human scale.

Internally, beyond general downlighting, the main move was to wash the core walls, to highlight the bold and colourful artworks hung throughout the space. This had the effect of not only creating the ambience within the space but also presenting a vibrant backdrop to the street.

Another important feature within the space was the leather clad ceiling to the central reception area which saw the lighting carefully integrated to help reveal its dynamic, organic form.
