Speirs + Major in Lights over Kruunuvuorenranta competition

Speirs + Major, along with West 8 Urban Design & Landscape Architecture bv, have put forward an entry for the Lights over Kruunuvuorenranta competition in Helsinki, Finland.

Kruunuvuorenranta, a former oil port which is being redeveloped to become a new seaside district, directly faces the city of Helsinki. The competition is seeking a creative and artistically-oriented lighting scheme for Kruunuvuorenranta, taking into consideration the enhanced winter hours of darkness and the visibility of the district from Helsinki.

All images are currently confidential, with the winner to be announced on 10 October as part of Kruunuvuorenranta's WDC light art project.

New Commission for Dom Square, Trajectum Lumen, Utrecht

We are excited to show our winning entry for a light commission for Dom Square, Utrecht in Holland as part of the city's 'Trajectum Lumen'. The commission will be opened in April 2013 to mark the 300th Anniversary of the Treaty of Utrecht. The proposal uses light to celebrate the composition of square, tower and cathedral as living organisms in the city.
